When Rachel isn’t cooking, she’s speaking about food in a style she describes as ‘Vicar of Dibley meets chef’. Or she can be found judging world-class food events like the Great Taste Awards for the Guild of Fine Foods, Tiptree World Bread Awards, Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year, and the British Pie Awards.
Rachel’s philosophy is that food doesn’t have to be complicated to be really good. The key is not to over-embellish and to let the food speak for itself. You simply need to take the very best ingredients you can afford and treat them with respect. And if that food is locally produced, reared or sourced, all the better.
Rachel’s mission is to get people away from convenience foods and into the kitchen, donning their aprons and serving up great British food. One of Rachel’s favourite meals is her mother’s home-cooked Lincoln beefsteak with Lincolnshire potatoes on the side and salad from the garden. Proof – as Rachel is keen to get across in her many speaking events – that great, wholesome food is really easy to prepare.
